REACH Career Counselor promotes career success for students in the REACH program by providing individual career education, advising and facilitating ongoing relationships with campus, local and national businesses, and non-profits to ensure that students are placed in relevant internships each semester. Develop internship sites, monitor interns, provide job coaching, and employer training and support. Identify appropriate workplace accommodations and provide training to supervisors and employers as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field; a minimum of one year of successful work experience in a related field; Or Bachelor’s degree in business with direct experience working with individuals with disabilities; and Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) Certification or ability to obtain CESP certification within one year of hire. A valid SC Driver’s license is required. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
A demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; must be detail-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and spoken); demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with intern employers and students; ability to work in a goal-driven environment with tight deadlines. Knowledge of FERPA privacy regulations is essential.
