Hidden Valley Summer Camp Jr. Counselor - Watkins Glen, NY

The mission of Hidden Valley 4-H Camp is to provide youth with a fun, residential camp experience under the guidance of positive role models that emphasize community building, positive social interactions, environmental awareness and skill building.
The Summer Camp Junior Counselor's role is to assist counselors in supervising the campers and provide assistance in the areas assigned by the Assistant Manager and Program Manager. Some physical requirements of this position could be endurance including prolonged standing, bending, stooping, walking long distances, running, hiking, climbing, and stretching; requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities; requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; willing to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours with limited or simple equipment and facilities; and with daily exposure to the sun, heat, cold, rain, sun, and other varying weather conditions, and animals such as bugs, snakes, bats, etc. Duration The summer camp season includes one week of pre-camp Staff Training starting on June 25 through July 2 and 6 weeks of day and residential camp that run from Sunday morning at 11:00 to Friday at 6:00 p.m. weekly. Specific dates camp is in operation are July 4 through August 13. Junior Counselors return home on Friday evening unless prior arrangement has been made with the Camp Director and are communicated to the Youth and Family Issue Leader or the CCESC Executive Director. The Junior Counselor will remain on camp until August 15 to assist in the cleaning and closing of the camp facility. Essential Functions
