Summary of Essential Duties: Friends Academy, Independent Quaker Day School, PS-12th grade is seeking a full-time Upper School English Teacher for the Fall, 2021, School Year, 2021-2022. As an experienced full-time faculty member, this position also includes serving as an advisor for 8-10 students and supporting a co-curricular activity such as coaching a sport or advising a major student/school organization. Support activities that contribute to the life of the school and attendance at all school faculty meetings, events, back-to-school nights, and department and divisional meetings.
Education and Experience: An undergraduate degree is required; a graduate degree in education or in a relevant discipline is preferred. Successful high school teaching experience of at least three years including experience with introductory level as well as the most advanced levels, including AP classes. We will consider candidates who can demonstrate the following competencies and attributes: * creative and current with best practices in English and language arts instruction, with a focus on 21st-century learning skills * excited about teaching high school students to engage in our core educational practices * experience in online and project-based teaching and learning * student-centered and excited to work collaboratively with students, colleagues and the community * possess excellent oral and written communication skills * thrives in a vibrant educational environment and embraces change * a deep interest in our Quaker mission and educational philosophy * strong organizational, time management and technology skills * Independent School teaching English to high school age students is preferred
