Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Mental Health Clinician III for the Newark Outpatient Department within the Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC).
Under supervision, provides culturally competent outpatient clinical services that meet the needs of the designated population. Participates in the assessment of clinical needs and provides focused skill acquisition and symptom management using evidence supported individual, group, and family therapy for mental health and co-occurring chemical abuse/dependency.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assesses treatment needs and provides evidence supported individual, group, and family treatment that is consistent with the service design and philosophy of the program, as clinically indicated, to assigned clients.
Expedites transfers to higher levels of care when clinically indicated, demonstrating knowledge of UBHC protocols and procedures.
Assumes overall case management responsibilities for assigned clients, including coordination of treatment and liaison with medical providers and community agencies, as measured by supervisory observation and record review.
Responsible for documentation that meets Quality Improvement chart review content standards.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Master's Degree in a Mental Health or a related discipline and a New Jersey license as required by discipline. Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated competency in treating families.
Ability to assess level of care needs and provide outpatient group therapy treatment.
Ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions.
Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC).
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
Competency with electronic clinical documentation.
May work at least one (1) evening per week.
