Position Summary: 

Dunn School is seeking our next Director for our nationally acclaimed Learning Strategies Program. Since 1973, Dunn has integrated and supported college-bound students with learning disabilities in a mainstream college-prep environment. Our Learning Strategies Program serves bright, motivated students in grades 6-12 with a constructive, practical and inspiring program that maximizes each student's success.  Students within the Learning Strategies Program enroll in the same college-preparatory classes as all other students. 

The Learning Strategies Program also includes a class called “Executive Group.”  Students in the Executive Group work closely with a Learning Specialist in a small group setting (5:1 maximum) to develop a growth mindset. This class is designed to teach and practice thinking skills linked to executive functions which include planning, organization, and time management, as well as work on active reading, writing and problem solving strategies.

In addition to the duties of the Director of Learning Strategies (see below), you will be responsible for working with students in one-to-one instruction and may also lead a section of the Executive Groups. As well, this position will include one season of coaching, student advising, and residential duty in our upper-school dormitories.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Oversee the Learning Strategies Program of Dunn School

• Teach 3-4 sections of Learning Strategies
• LS student advisor (3-4 students)
• Teach 1-2 Wednesday afternoon enrichment classes
• Coach 1 season of after-school athletics or activities
• Residential duty in the dormitories, if living on campus (2-3 nights/month Sunday-Thursday)
• Weekend duty, if living on campus (approximately five weekend duty shifts and five Friday night duty shifts)
• Participation in the Dunn School Leadership Program
• Other duties and roles to be determined
