Description Employee Classification FT Administrative Hourly Position Summary To assist prospective students in the admission process from recruitment to enrollment. Analyzes transcripts, self initiates reports, processes necessary academic documents for admissions. This position is required to ensure the admissions process is followed for all students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (1) Admissions Counselor will report to the Associate Director of Admissions. (2) Manage and evaluate prospect, conversion and yield activities within a designated recruitment territory, and across territories as needed. (3) Initiate and maintain contact with applicants through individual and group interactions. (4) Recruit and give presentations at day and evening events as a representative of the university. (5) Review academic qualifications and make admissions decisions. (6) Communicate and explain all financial aid information to prospective students from the inquiry stage through final award clarification. (7) Manage and coordinate programs for assigned liaison(s) roles between Admissions Office and other UDM departments. (8) Evaluate data from self-initiated and standard enrollment reports to determine actions which will maximize recruitment territory management. (9) Assist with day-to-day functions of the Admissions Office and other duties as necessary to support the recruitment efforts. (10) All other duties as requested. Salary/Pay Information $40,000 Requirements Education Bachelors degree required. Experience Some experience in recruitment, sales or counseling preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Ability to handle multiple tasks • Effective presentation skills • Available to work some evenings and weekends • Professional level knowledge working with Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to learn admissions CRM program • Privately owned vehicle required for recruitment Physical Requirements Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds). Work Environment Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office. Licenses/Certifications Valid drivers license in good standing Anticipated Schedule Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm Some evenings & weekends Interim remote work schedule may apply due to COVID-19 About University of Detroit Mercy
