DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, perform independently a wide variety of technical procedures within the blood gas testing program. Responsibilities include method development-modification-parallel testing, collaboration on or independent preparation of abstracts or manuscripts, repair of laboratory instruments, sample processing, reagent preparation, data entry and phlebotomy duties. Other responsibilities include maintaining staff competencies for blood gas testing, performing device validations, troubleshooting blood gas testing devices, and serving as a liaison between blood gas testing program and central lab. May process specimens, perform waived and non-waived testing without direct and constant supervision, and report results without supervisor or director review for the tests that are within scope of licensureand for which have been trained and deemed competent. Performs all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).

• Must have at least two (2) years of applicable clinical laboratory experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A Bachelor's Degree.
• Point of care testing experience.
• Experience with Blood Gas Testing.
• Working with a multidisciplinary team.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs.
