Job Description Summary: In alignment with Webster University's strategic plan and within the purview of the Reeg Academic Resource Center, the Transitions Coordinator manages and oversees Transitions; develops, analyzes and improves program activities and benchmarks; disseminates information regarding Transitions; advises and mentors students participating in the program; develops and maintains appropriate campus and community partnerships for the success of the program; and designs, schedules, promotes, implements and assesses the summer Transitions and Academic Prep (TAP) program, continually adding more to the TAP program for greater student success outcomes. Additional responsibilities include maintaining statistical databases, managing office systems, and supervising student workers and casual appointments as needed. Reports to the Director, Reeg Academic Resource Center.
Minimum Qualifications Masters degree in an appropriate discipline with a minimum of two years of experience in higher education is required. Must have at least two years of experience as a teacher, counselor, or administrator. Must have experience in advising and/or mentoring students in a higher education setting. Experience working with at-risk students, including but not limited to first generation students, minority students, and international students is essential. Must be able to multitask and perform various responsibilities simultaneously. Must be able to perform job responsibilities while managing and responding to frequent interruptions. Must possess skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner. Must be able to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction. Must handle confidential information with tact and discretion. Must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to calmly and efficiently handle interactions ranging from routine to emergency with faculty and staff members and students. Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications. Strong computer skills and experience with online services are desired. Demonstrated flexibility and problem-solving skills are essential. Excellent oral, written, and communication skills are required. Must have the ability to prioritize and manage work-related stress.

Essential Duties Propose, manage, direct, assess, and oversee the Transitions and summer TAP programs and budgets in coordination with the Director of the Reeg Academic Resource Center. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise TAP assistants (student employees). Propose and create components of the Transitions program and methods for students to achieve greater academic success. Lead retention and persistence efforts targeted toward preparing Transitions students for University life, including developing content and curriculum for Websters summer TAP program. Track, maintain, and assess both cohort and historical data for Transitions and TAP students. Report program news and statistics to the appropriate members of the University community. Write and maintain Transitions and TAP content for the website and University communications. Meet with Transitions students weekly to develop and carry out academic action plans. Counsel and support undeclared Transitions students in determining and declaring an academic major. Develop campus partnerships, particularly with the Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, Student Affairs departments, etc., to support Transitions students and develop further intervention strategies targeted to these students. Develop, maintain, and continually improve a comprehensive outreach plan, in partnership with Admissions and Advising, to obtain program participants. Develop personalized assistance for, and provide academic support to, students who are conditionally admitted. Identify specific campus services, including peer tutoring, disability support services, writing supports, the Testing Center, and Counseling and Life Development, for student success based on individual students needs. Tutor students as needed. Communicate with faculty and staff members to identify academic issues and provide early intervention strategies for Transitions students. Communicate with parents and families of Transitions students, upon consent, to generate a system of support for students participating in the program. Participate in new student orientation and registration programs, both as a program coordinator and as a presenter and/or facilitator in the student and/or family members program. Investigate and pursue grant opportunities to support the Transitions and TAP programs. Support other functions and the growth of the Reeg Academic Resource Center as needed. Keep current with regard to best practices within the field by engaging in professional development opportunities and, where possible, presenting at such conferences and workshops. Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned.
