Job Summary: Recruit and evaluate freshman and transfer applicants to support enrollment goals. Exercise discretion in the review of confidential admission materials. Plan and implement strategic recruitment practices, both long-term and short-term, to achieve university undergraduate enrollment objectives. Manage a specific program or administrative function for student recruitment. Provide detailed and nuanced counseling to students, families, counselors, and alumni. Please note: Some evening and weekend work required. Frequent travel by airplane. 4-6 weeks annual travel, frequently outside Illinois required. Ability to lift 20-pound boxes of recruitment materials. Specific Responsibilities: - Manage a geographic territory. Plan and execute recruitment activities to meet University enrollment goals and University strategic plan. Develop, implement and assess strategic recruitment by targeting schools, programs, and students within territory. Build and maintain productive working relationships with college counselors and community-based organizations to establish a successful recruitment campaign. Conduct outreach campaigns that include: scheduling visits to secondary schools and community-based organizations; organizing large-scale recruitment events such as hotel programs; and emailing prospective students and families. Track, evaluate and report relevant recruitment statistics. Organize high school visits, college nights, on-campus events and other strategic recruitment events. Answer student/family queries by phone, email, and in person. Liaise with other campus offices to meet recruitment goals.
- Read, evaluate and render an admission decision for a minimum of 1,500 freshman and transfer applications. Apply independent judgment by interpreting institutional priorities during the application evaluation process to determine applicant admission to the freshmen and transfer class. Must exercise independent judgment to interpret and apply university admissibility standards to meet enrollment targets. Plan and organize reading quotas to meet deadlines. Provide detailed, professional counseling to students, parents and counselors on admission standards.
- Manage the recruitment of underrepresented students, with special emphasis on Hispanic/Latinx recruitment. Create campus-based programming efforts designed to recruit underrepresented students including student group visits and fly-in programs. Hire, train and supervise 2-3 work-study students. Cultivate strong working relationships with on- and off- campus offices/organizations that contribute to the advancement of recruitment goals, including, but not limited to Hispanic/Latinx student groups, community-based organizations, Office of Financial Aid, and the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications: - Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree.
- Minimum one year experience in college admission/recruiting, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in administration, project management, customer service, public relations, supervision, and/or event coordination.
- Fluent in Spanish.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.) - Excellent writing, editing and communication skills.
- Strong speaking/communication skills and ability to speak effectively before audiences of up to 500 or more.
- Requires valid driver's license and frequent business travel by plane.
- Ability to work effectively with time and volume pressures. Must be able to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate with diverse Northwestern community including admission staff, students/families, and alumni.
- Ability to meet department and university goals.
- Ability to work outside normal business hours including evening and weekends.
- Requires independent judgment, discretion and diplomacy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
