Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician III for the First Episode Psychosis Department at Rutgers, University Behavioral Health Care.
The Mental Health Clinician III provides outpatient mental health services that demonstrate cultural sensitivity and meet the needs of designated UBHC consumers. The Mental Health Clinician III evaluates consumer needs and delivers therapeutic interventions incorporating evidence based individual, group, and family therapy as appropriate for mental health and co-occurring substance use issues.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Conducts behavioral health assessments with clinical skill while showing appropriate respect, concern and understanding for the individual.
Establishes appropriate DSM IV diagnoses and documents diagnoses in the clinical record at the time of assessment with updates when clinically appropriate.
Identifies consumers for whom the program is not the most appropriate level of care and assists with referring to appropriate providers within UBHC or outside.
Collaborates effectively with other staff members, staff from other units, outside agencies, and members of the individual's family or other support networks to enhance care.
Advocates for individuals served to ensure that issues of culture or language do not create a barrier to effective care.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Master's Degree in a mental health or related discipline.
Applicants possessing a Degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be knowledgeable in treating children, adolescents, adults and families, including those with co-occurring disorders.
Must be able to assess level of care needs and provide outpatient group therapy treatment.
Sufficient computer literacy to effectively use the electronic medical record (EMR), email, Internet/Intranet.
A License Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC).
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
May be required to work at least one (1) evening per week.
