DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, performs a variety of work duties which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations The Joint Commission (TJC). These duties also include but are not limited to: environmental care functions, equipment/supply management and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Incumbents may also provide front office services on a routine or back-up basis.

Medical Assistant who is trained to also schedule appointments and verify insurance. Will travel to various clinic locations in Orange County, Rancho Mirage, and Murrieta with the transplant MD. Will also work remotely to assist the GI and Hepatology teams on various Medical Assistant level tasks such as writing simple results letters, contacting patients, and providing instructions, all under the direction of the GI and Hepatology RNs.

Typical duties include answering multi-line incoming customer calls, completing online registration, and scheduling appointments. Responsibilities emphasize on quality Customer Service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.

• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

• Minimum of three (3) years of Medical Assistant experience.

• Experience with answering phones, patient questions, making appointments, and coordinating care.

• Knowledge of medical terminology, on-line scheduling, universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics.

• Requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a teamenvironment.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One (1) year of EPIC & Cadence experience, or equivalent system.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• Must be able to work various locations based on business needs.
• Will travel to various clinic locations in Orange County, Rancho Mirage, and Murrieta with the transplant MD.
