Special Instructions Summary This position is located at the West Lafayette campus. Department IUSM-WEST LAFAYETTE (IN-MEDL-IUINA) Job Summary The primary role of the Lead Advisor is to provide academic counseling to the students in their cohort. The Lead Advisor serves as the first point of contact for their students. The Lead Advisor serves as an advocate for the students in their cohort and does not assess their learning in a formal capacity. Lead Advisors arrange individual meetings at least 3 times a year with all students in their cohorts. The goals of the meetings are:

As the first point of contact for the students, the Lead Advisors often triage student concerns and ensure appropriate referrals and follow up to include:
Required Qualifications Master's degree and two years of experience in student affairs, teaching, academic advising, or a related field. Combinations of education and related experience may be considered. Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach. Strong judgment and decision making skills. Ability to prioritize and organize work in fast-paced environment. Ability to be flexible in meeting the needs of students in a high stress environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with professional students and career advising.
