Associated Students (A.S.) is a non-profit auxiliary corporation serving the students of California State University, Northridge (CSUN). Its mission is to serve as the primary advocate for students at California State University, Northridge and to provide excellent and meaningful programs and services designed to create and enhance a spirited, learning-focused campus environment. A.S. membership is composed of all regularly enrolled students, and its primary source of funding is from mandatory student body fees. It is the only recognized governing organization representing all CSUN students. A.S. provides financial support for a wide variety of activities, including programs such as the Children's Center and Ticket Office, and it provides publicity support to A.S. programs, clubs and organizations. Recreational activities are provided through the Sport Clubs and Outdoor Adventures. A.S. coordinates the campus Recycling Program and offers lectures, concerts and other educational and entertainment programs through A.S. Productions. All corporate business of A.S. is conducted in the A.S. Administration and offices located in the southwest wing of the University Student Union. A.S. also manages its own human resources, marketing and technology support functions. Major Duties Under general supervision, the Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for the creation and sending out monthly statements to student organizations and all ad hoc financial reports; creation, review and upload of payroll interface; maintaining fixed asset database additions, updates and deletions; creation of chargeback requisitions; and preparation of the Accounting Office and Outdoor Adventure deposits. The incumbent maintains student organizations faculty/staff advisor and contact database; creates and distributes purchase orders; supervises, trains and evaluates Student Assistant II position in the creation and upload of cash receipts, journal entries and fixed asset reporting; distributes and reconciles accounts receivable invoices; analyzes and creates DE 542 report monthly; serves as the Accounts Payable Technician back up to issue and print AP checks. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university in accounting, business administration or a closely related field. OR Equivalent to three years of progressively responsible financial record-keeping experience which has demonstrated the above knowledge and abilities. Experience working with student clubs and organizations within a college campus, preferred. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); office methods and procedures; statistical and mathematical presentation of data; advanced proficiency with current word processing and spreadsheet software programs, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems and/or other types of records management systems. Ability and specialized skills to: interpret and follow instructions and policy guidelines; analyze financial and statistical data and draw conclusions; utilize problem solving techniques; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; and communicate effectively with others inside and outside the unit, including conveying technical information to non- Accountants; and operate standard office equipment and software such as Microsoft Office Suite. Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule This position is employed through Associated Students (AS). AS offers an excellent benefits package including Medical, Dental & Vision insurance, Life Insurance, Vacation, Sick Leave, 14 paid Holidays, company sponsored retirement program and more. The anticipated hiring range: $24.27 - $29.77, dependent upon qualifications and experience. HOURS: Full-Time 40 hours per week; 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. General Information
