As a member of the Harvard Medical School Campus Planning and Facilities Department, the Strategic Initiatives Project Manager is a critically important role, managing high-level projects for the Office of the Chief Campus Planning and Facilities Officer (CCPFO). The positions main responsibility oversees CCPFO's highest priorities, he/she proactively plans and collaborates with the campus planning and facilities leaders on all aspects and development of strategic initiatives for the department. Reporting directly to the CCPFO, he/she organizes and prioritizes critical issues and required information for the CCPRO to facilitate efficient decision-making. This highly strategic and facilitative role requires a combination of focus and flexibility, as well as willingness to play an active, collaborative role. He/she also works directly with Campus Planning and Facilities (CP&F) leadership on strategy development, process improvements, and alignment to school and university strategic initiatives. The incumbent provides oversight and guidance to projects of high importance. The Strategic Initiatives Project Manager provides functional support for the CCPFO and supports the CCPFO's internal and external communications while ensuring that meeting objectives are realistic, preparation is appropriate, and that the CCPFO is well-prepared. He/she participates in key constituent meetings to support CCPFO effectiveness and facilitate resolution of matters requiring the CCPFO's attention. With comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental function, the incumbent enhances CCPFO success by providing information and orchestrates deliverables. He/she manages strategic agendas through proactive planning and managing the CCPFO to improve decision-making across HMS and focus on School Strategy, Faculty and Researcher engagement as well as cross-university priorities. The Strategic Initiatives Project Manager's role will be to work with all staff to ensure that the CCPFO's needs are conveyed, that progress is being made in a timely way, and that any demands on CCPFO's schedule are understood and agreed upon. The Strategic Initiatives Project Manager informs the CCPFO of project status and variations from schedule or scope. The role requires the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team oriented, highly visible environment where many complex situations need to be handled simultaneously and tasks are often sensitive and confidential in nature. As the CCPFO's trusted advisor, the role requires a highly resourceful individual with strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, strong verbal and written communications skills, and strong analytical skills. Bachelor's degree in project management or related field is required. Minimum of 5 years work experience is required. Experience supporting a facilities operations or physical planning related organization. The successful candidate will be discrete, high-energy, agile-minded, strategic, proactive, a direct communicator, highly organized and committed to the vision and values of Harvard Medical School.
