Position: Admissions Counselor (2 positions available) Reports to: Director of Undergraduate Admissions Department: Enrollment Management
The Admissions Office seeks a self-motivated and team-oriented Admissions Counselor to contribute to the recruitment efforts of the College; manage a recruitment territory and build relationships with high school influencers, community based organizations and prospective students. Responsibilities include managing assigned travel territories through extensive travel for approximately 12 weeks in the fall and 8 weeks in the spring by visiting high schools, community organizations and attending college fairs. Flexibility, willingness to travel long distances and work evenings and weekends are a must.
Other responsibilities include a strong knowledge and understanding of Manhattan College academic programs, admissions policies and procedures. Participation in campus recruitment events, ability to build relationships and cultivate inquires through to enrolled students, and evaluating undergraduate applications for admission are key responsibilities of the position. The Admissions/Financial Aid Counselor will also work closely with members of the Financial Aid Staff to provide pertinent information to families applying for need and merit based financial aid. The Admissions Counselor must have the capability to see the big picture and understand divisional goals and prioritize their work accordingly. Additionally, they must be able to work unsupervised and take initiative on projects as well as to see projects through completion
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Undergraduate Admissions.
Qualifications: · One to three years of admissions experience. · Strong interpersonal skills and excellent writing and public speaking skills. · Ability to establish and maintain relationships with high school influencers, community organizations and prospective students in a competitive environment. · Enthusiastic personality, strong problem solving skills and attention to detail are essential. · Valid driver’s license. · Ability to travel daily and work weekends and evenings. · Preference will be given in the evaluation process to candidates with prior experience working in an undergraduate admissions office. · SLATE and Banner experience preferred. · Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
