Harborview Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time, temporary/hourly, MEDICAL SOCIAL WORKER. The individual in this position will provide direct social work services to the Academic Medical Center
The Social Worker in this position will be on a team providing care to patients in Harborview’s 50+ primary and specialty care clinics. There are no weekend or evening hours. The position requires consistent, weekly availability for work shifts.
Implement full range of social work clinical protocols for patients ranging from infancy through adulthood, including crisis intervention, social work assessment and discharge planning
Prioritize patients in need of psychiatric evaluation, minors, families of patients who are in need of trauma/grief interventions
Prioritize sexual assault victims, as well as domestic, elder, and child abuse victims
Prioritize patients needing nursing home placements and general resources, including transportation and housing
Prioritize patients with chemical dependency and other pyscho-social emergencies
Prioritize patients needing other services as requested by providers
Knowledge of legal requirements for vulnerable populations, involuntary treatment for psychiatric patients, and patients with chemical dependencies
Knowledge of community resources relevant to the target population
Perform related duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS: A Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education AND One year of full-time social work experience in a health care setting or equivalent. Experience can include a practicum placement as part of a social work training program and/or employment experience.
