High School Math Teacher
New York Military Academy
New York Military Academy seeks a full-time, experienced Upper School Math teacher for a permanent position starting immediately. A successful candidate will have a four-year degree (Master’s preferred) in Math and have teaching experience. The Math teacher is expected to be able to offer classroom instruction at multiple levels. Applicants must be comfortable teaching Geometry through Calculus. All NYMA teachers will be expected to develop curriculum and assessments for their courses in consultation with other teachers in their department and the academic dean. The course curriculum, any related materials, and assessments are expected to be readily available for review by the academic dean upon request. Teachers will be expected to keep an updated assignment site for each of their courses. Other expectations for teachers would include timely preparation of grades at each marking period, attendance at all faculty meetings and major school functions such as graduation, timely responses to all inquiries made by other NYMA employees and parents, assistance in covering classes for a teacher who is absent, and presence in the morning before classes start and at the end of the day for extra-help sessions with students. Teachers also serve as an advisor to 6-8 students, proctor one to two evening study halls per week, work approximately one weekend per month as part of a weekend activities team, and are expected to add meaningfully to the school’s co-curricular programs. Enthusiasm for working with young adults in and outside of the classroom is a must.

Required: Experience teaching the subject matter at high school or college level. Bachelors Degree in subject matter Strong classroom management skills Preferred: Experience teaching both international and domestic students Experience teaching students with varying English skills Masters Degree in subject matter or in education
