The Lycée Français de Chicago is seeking an experienced, full time Learning Specialist for the elementary grade levels (K-5) with a start date of next August for the 2021-2022 school year. The Learning Specialist is a member of the Student Services Department, working closely with teachers to provide remediation, assist in differentiation in the classroom, and help implement accommodations to help all students achieve success and become active, engaged learners. They will work in English. Knowledge of the French language, curriculum, and culture is a plus, but not required.
Identifying, monitor, and remediating students who learn differently;
Educating faculty and parents on topics relevant to learning differences
Helping plan and implement Individualized Learning Plans, both independently and in collaborating with faculty, parents, and outside specialists.
Preparing and evaluating work to facilitate positive student development;
Meeting requirements for the assessment and recording of students' development;
Communicating with parents and providing them with feedback on a student's progress during parents’ meetings;
Working with others to plan and coordinate work; liaising with colleagues and working flexibly
Keeping up with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum;
Organizing and taking part in school events, outings and activities which may take place during weekends or in the evening;
Working with coordinators, head of departments and directors to maximize their involvement in the school and the development of resources for the school;
Working and meeting with other professionals such as counselors and educational psychologists, if required;
Remaining current with accepted and appropriate instructional theory, practice and research.
Striving to maintain and improve professional competence;
Attending administrative meetings;
Other school-related tasks.
This position will be open beginning next school year with a start date of August 2021.

LBS1/Type 10 certification
A minimum of 3 years' experience in early childhood education
Experience with diagnostic assessments and screening tools
Ability to collaborate with a team of teachers and parents
Experience providing remediation to individual students and/or small groups in and out of the classroom
Speaks English with native proficiency and possesses excellent communication skills.
