The Senior Assistant to the Dean, Silberman College reports directly to the Dean of Silberman College of Business. Silberman College operates on three campuses, including two locations in New Jersey and one in Vancouver, BC, Canada. This position is located at the Metropolitan campus of FDU in Hackensack-Teaneck, NJ. Due to the Dean's schedule that is split between two New Jersey campuses, and the Dean's many off-campus activities, the Senior Assistant is the nerve center for all Silberman College administrative activities.
Provides a wide range of administrative support for the Dean: Maximizes the effectiveness of interdepartmental operational processes and communications; serves as a liaison with various executive offices at the University and other external stakeholders; advises the Dean on policy, procedural and operational issues of the College; facilitates communication, plans events, drafts and edits various documents, schedules meetings and manages the Dean's calendar.
1.Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree or equivalent preferred.
2.A minimum of seven years of successful administrative experience in an academic environment working with faculty, students, parents and staff.
3.Experience with external constituencies, including the press, senior corporate officers, and community leaders.
4.Skilled in using discretion and independent judgment to make sound decisions balancing facts, priorities, and possible outcomes.
5.Excellent human relations and administrative skills, especially the ability to manage sensitive information with decorum and confidentiality.
6.Ability to handle frequent interruptions, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
7.Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail.
8.Advanced computer and related software skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Internet, web conferencing tools, etc.
9.Skilled in collaborating and communicating to build relationships with individuals at all levels within and external to the university to support College needs.
10.Skilled in interpreting policies and procedures to proactively resolve issues.
11.Skilled in identifying problems, generating ideas for improvement, and recommending or implementing solutions.
12.Skilled in using discretion regarding when to involve the Dean, when to resolve issues independently, or when to engage others.
13.Ability to make decisions quickly and adjust as needs arise in a high-pressure environment.
14.Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
15.Experience in office and complex budget management preferred.
16.Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague, Interfolio, and Chrome River software systems preferred.
17.Excellent research skills, specifically using the internet and academic sources preferred.
18.Creative talent for marketing events preferred.
19.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
