![]() University of California Irvine ACADEMIC PERSONNEL BUSINESS PARTNER Updated: Feb 8, 2021 Location: UC Irvine Campus Job Type: Department: SOM-ACADEMIC AFFAIRS Job Opening ID: 14998 Reports To: Executive Advisor 5 Working Title: Academic Personnel Business Partner Department: SOM Academic Affairs Bargaining Unit: 99 FLSA: Exempt Payroll Job Code: 007715 Job Location: UCI Campus- Irvine Percent of Time: 100% Work Schedule: 8-5, M-F Employee Class: Career Position Summary: Under general direction, incumbent is responsible for performing all academic personnel functions for assigned department(s) within the School of Medicine. This includes: equal opportunity/affirmative action issues, academic recruitment, appointments, merit increases, midcareer evaluations, promotions, benefits, sabbaticals, grievances, layoffs, compensation, training and development. Acts as advisor to the chairs, vice chairs, CAOs, division chiefs, divisional managers, faculty and staff for all academic personnel issues, including interpretation of the UC Compensation Plan and UC Academic Personnel Policies and Procedures. Reviews and interprets complex policies and procedures governing senate and non-senate academic personnel actions. Analyzes proposed academic actions to determine potential problems or complications. Responsible for appointments and yearly renewals of all part-time faculty. Serves as back-up for other senior personnel analyst(s), with a working knowledge of all academic staff issues including collective bargaining and labor relations. Compensation Range: $5,200.00- $7,916.67 Department Website: http://som.uci.edu Required: 2-5 years of relevant experience Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Requires thorough knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR. Ability to analyze complex management issues, develop project scope and solutions, give professional advice to senior officials, and make critical decisions regarding personnel. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. Excellent critical and innovative thinking to address moderately complex issues and present nuanced analyses. Preferred: Thorough knowledge of organization and college goals, priorities and values and the legal and human implications of decisions. Thorough knowledge of systemwide and organization policies, union contracts, procedures and practices that govern academic HR administration. Knowledge of trends in academia, especially in areas of academic planning, human resource management and administration. Final candidate subject to background check.
