Director of Addiction and Recovery Specialization & Core Faculty Member

The Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology Program (MAP) at Antioch University Los Angeles is searching for a full-time Core Faculty position to direct the Addiction and Recovery Specialization. The position will remain open until a strong candidate is identified.

The Addiction and Recovery Specialization is a 17-unit course of study within the 90-unit Masters of Psychology program and is the newest of eight specializations associated with the program. The MAP curriculum meets the educational requirements for licensure as a California Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) or a Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC) license. The Addiction and Recovery Specialization allows students to explore substance use and related disorders from a multidimensional perspective. Rather than viewing people struggling with addiction from an oversimplified, one-size-fits-all approach, students learn the biological, psychological, socio-cultural-political, and systemic etiology of addiction, along with a variety of approaches to treatment. Students are trained in knowledge, attitude, and skills to thoroughly assess, conceptualize, diagnose, and develop comprehensive treatment plans along with the skills required to deliver evidence-based interventions with deep understanding for the complexity of addiction and recovery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role, we seek a Core faculty member and Director to develop and lead one of our newest specializations within the MA Psychology program curriculum. The Director must:

• be knowledgeable of the research relevant to addiction and recovery services. In addition, the individual should engage in scholarly work that makes a contribution to the profession.
• be able to speak to the national press, represent the specialization and program at professional conferences, and also be able to curate national figures to present to students.
• think organizationally about the specialization, including curriculum development, program evaluation, and collaboration with other offices and specializations within the MAP program
• teach courses, (some evenings and weekends), and participate in faculty meetings.
• outreach to professionals—both academic and practitioners—in the Addiction and Recovery field and psychological community to ensure best practices within the specialization;
• work with the Chair to hire instructors and staff and manage instructors and staff;
• plan and oversee events and other co-curricular activities specific to the specialization.
• facilitate regular communications to the student body about upcoming lectures, speakers;
• collaborate with other faculty and staff developing materials and curricular opportunities within the specialization as well as the broader MAP program
• manage expenses related to the specialization, including scholarship funds;
• manage the Specialization’s Social Media venues;
• work with the Director of Clinical Training on the Specialization’s clinical training sites;
• maintain current donors and participating in fundraising activities for the Specialization and its clinics;
• advise graduate students and review student academic progress; and other duties as needed.

UNIVERSITY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Faculty member may be asked to serve on campus committees and is expected to participate in the work of the faculty, including further developing the MAP curriculum and ensuring the quality of the curriculum and faculty for both the Specialization and MAP as a whole.

HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a 100% position.  Evening and/or weekend teaching may be required.

COMPENSATION:

Commensurate with experience.
