Upper School History Teacher
St. Catherine's School
St. Catherine’s School seeks an Upper School History Teacher to begin work for the 2021-2022 academic year. The Upper School History curriculum focuses on helping students develop historical thinking skills, the ability to analyze primary and secondary sources, an understanding of how to express historical arguments in writing, and an appreciation for how the social sciences enable a more nuanced understanding of both past and present and inform citizenship in a global society. The Upper School has a global history curriculum with an array of AP and elective courses at the upper levels. The candidate should be prepared to teach a variety of courses in the History Department at more than one grade level. Candidates with an academic background in and experience teaching American history and Civics/Government are preferred. In addition to classroom responsibilities, the teacher will serve as advisor to a group of students, sponsor an extracurricular activity, and work with colleagues on curriculum and school life committees.
