Assistant/Associate Director of College Counseling
Bullis School
Bullis School seeks a full-time Assistant/Associate Director of College Counseling for the 2021-2022 academic year to play an essential role in guiding students and families through a comprehensive college search process aligned with the college preparatory mission of the school. Candidates should be professionals who are empathetic and strong communicators with current knowledge of secondary and higher education trends. The Bullis College Counseling department is highly collaborative, fostering a culture of creativity and continued growth in a supportive and upbeat environment. College Counselors guide students through the college search and application process and are assigned to 30-50 seniors each year for whom they serve as a direct resource for the student and their families and compose a counselor letter of recommendation. The college counselor’s role focuses solely on supporting the college application process without additional teaching duties while remaining deeply involved in curricular and programmatic discussions throughout the school and serving as course selection coaches for rising seniors. Throughout the year, counselors coordinate parent coffees, a sophomore class spring program, mock admission programs, essay writing workshops and an August application workshop, often employing EdTech and other tools to maximize student engagement. College Counselors serve as ambassadors of the school and cultivate strong relationships and conduct programs in collaboration with college admission representatives and college counselors in Washington Area Independent Schools.
