High School Counselor

Canterbury School is seeking a dynamic, talented, and experienced school counselor to join our team as a full-time faculty member in the High School. This position is responsible for counseling and engaging students in social-emotional learning, leading various trainings for faculty and parents on mental health awareness, and for assisting the High School Director and Dean of Students with certain administrative functions. Canterbury requires strong counseling skills, a deep understanding of high school students, knowledge of best practices in school counseling, flexibility, and the ability to collaborate closely with members of the administration, colleagues, and parents. 

Responsibilities include: 

• Providing excellent counseling by fostering a nurturing, and supportive, and inclusive environment that emphasizes mutual respect and care.
• The active pursuit of professional development in the areas of school counseling and social-emotional development.
• Other general supervisory duties throughout the school day, as assigned by the division directors.

• Supervising students when in your care
• Interacting appropriately with parents
• Attending school, professional development, and faculty meetings
• All other responsibilities as outlined in the employee handbook
