Whitby is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Middle School educator to lead the Secondary School Counseling program.

The principal responsibility of the Secondary School Counselor is to help students and parents/guardians understand and navigate the secondary school admissions process and guide the school selection process based on the student's individual profiles. The Secondary School Counselor will establish a collaborative relationship with the student and their family; he/she assists in representing and advocating for the student in the secondary school placement process by communicating with schools on their behalf.    Knowledge of the IB Program is a distinct advantage.  

Experience in Secondary School Counseling and/or Admissions

A bachelor’s degree is required. 

Prospective candidates should also:

  • Enjoy cultivating and developing personal interactions with students, parents, faculty, prospective families and secondary school representatives.
  • Have strong communication skills as a speaker, writer, and listener.
  • Demonstrate patience and support in working with students and parents.
  • Possess strong communication and presentation skills to diverse audiences including students, parents, faculty, prospective families, other school placement counselors, and admissions representatives
