Stuart Hall School is an Episcopal boarding and day school in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia that provides a college preparatory education for area day students in grades 4-12 and boarding students from around the world in grades 8-12. With close to 200 students and a thriving, community-based mastery education program, the School is located on two campuses in Staunton, Virginia (named as one of Travel & Leisure magazine’s best small towns).

Job Title: Upper School Spanish Teacher

Department: World Languages

Reports to: Academic Dean and Dean of Students & Campus Life

Job Summary: This is a part-time position that includes teaching upper school students in some levels of Spanish, involvement in the school’s co-curricular program, and participation in residence life as either a dormitory parent or weekend duty team member. Candidates should be excited about the rewards of teaching and living in a boarding school.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Academics:

• Teaching 2 sections of Spanish 

• Consistent development of personal professional growth
• Collaboration within the World Language department, as well as with all faculty

    Student Life:

• Facilitating afternoon Co-Curricular Activities or Serving as faculty advisor to approximately 10-15 students
• Candidates with interest or experience in any of the following areas are encouraged to express this interest when applying:
• Coaching upper school cross country, basketball, tennis, or golf 
• Coaching esports
• Advising the yearbook staff
• Working in the outdoor education program
• Work towards diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice topics
• Planning weekend activities for students

    Residence Life:

• Either living in a dormitory and serving as a dorm parent to 10-20 students or serving on a weekend duty team as a member of the Residential Life Staff and supporting student activities and residence life needs (approximately one weekend per month)

Overall:

• Supporting the school’s mission and culture
• Adhering to the guidelines in the employee manual
• Proactively providing parent and student communication
• Other duties as assigned by the Head of School
