Lower Division Head

The Park School seeks a Lower Division Head to begin July 1, 2021.  The Lower Division Head is a member of the School’s senior administrative team providing focused, strategic leadership to Park’s Lower Division. The Lower Division consists of PreK - Grade 4 serving approximately 300 students and their families and roughly 50 faculty. The Lower Division Head works closely with the Assistant Head of School for Academics and Program and the Upper Division Head to support and strengthen Park’s robust PreK-Grade 8 program. Park’s Lower Division is a vibrant community of eager and joyful learners and passionate and dedicated educators. With so much still to be determined, 2021-22 promises to be a year complete with challenges and opportunities as Park and the world navigates through the evolving impact of COVID-19 focused on building community, enhancing program, and prioritizing health and safety. The Lower Division Head will play a leadership role as the School works to accomplish the goals of Park’s recently released Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Implementation Plan.

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Lower Division in support of Lower Division students, faculty, staff, and families 
• In partnership with the Assistant Head of School for Academics and Program, lead the implementation of Park’s 2018 Strategic Plan as it pertains to the Lower Division
• In partnership with the Assistant Head of School for Academics and Program, manage the hiring process for Lower Division faculty seeking to build a diverse, equity-minded, and student-centered faculty
• In partnership with the Assistant Head of Academics and Program, execute the Lower Division faculty supervision and evaluation process
• In partnership with the Assistant Head of School for Academics and Program & the Director of Instructional Practice, determine and implement best in class instructional practices
• In partnership with the Assistant Head of School of Academics & Program and Upper Division Head, coordinate the faculty, staff, and administration professional growth and development program 
• In partnership with the Assistant Head of School for Academic and Program and Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, ensure that Park’s hiring and retention practices foster a culture of equity and inclusion and allow Park to retain an excellent and energized faculty
• In partnership with the Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Assistant Head for Academics and Program, ensure that Park’s Lower Division curriculum demonstrates a purposeful and effective antiracist approach and that Park’s Lower Division instructional practices demonstrate the best in culturally responsive teaching
• In partnership with the Lower Division Assistant Head, Upper Division Head, School Counselor, and Psychologist, support and maintain the Upper Division SEL curriculum
• In partnership with Lower Division Assistant Head and Lower Division faculty create and sustain an effective approach to student behavior management
• In partnership with the Director of Academic Support and Assistant Head of School for Academics & Program, work to ensure that a range of diverse learners is served by Lower Division curriculum, instruction, and faculty
• In partnership with the Head of School and Director of Marketing & Communications, clearly define and communicate the academic and instructional vision of the Lower Division to internal and external constituency groups
• In partnership with the Director of Admission, works to support the work of the Admission Office as it pertains to recruitment, assessment, and enrollment of prospective Lower Division students and families
• In partnership with the Directors of Secondary School Counseling, works to retain Lower Division students and support Lower Division students entertaining a move to another school
• In partnership with the Assistant Head of School for Finance and Operations and other operational leaders manage the Lower Division budget, essential services, and Lower Division facilities
• Supervise the Lower Division faculty
• Supervise the Lower Division Assistant Head
• Supervise the Lower Division After School Program Director and Lower Division After School Program
• Serve on the senior administrative team and the School’s emergency response team
• Lead specific initiatives as determined by the Head of School
