Position Summary The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for executing the financial strategy of the company and overseeing all aspects of the company’s finances. The CFO is an advisor and strategic partner to the Board of Directors, and provides leadership and coordination of the accounting, tax, internal control, risk management, financial planning, record-keeping, and financial reporting processes for the company. The successful candidate will be a seasoned financial professional with the ability to provide strategic advice to the Board of Directors while also being hands on in all aspects of the company’s financial and operational management. Responsibilities Strategy, Planning and Management - In collaboration with the Board of Directors, develops and executes the financial and operational strategy of the company;
- Member of the Executive Committee, responsible for day-to-day policy and decision making;
- Develop prospects for Coho by studying industry and economic trends and revenue growth opportunities. Works with others at the firm to evaluate new initiatives and opportunities;
- Provides insights, recommendations, and action plans for short-term and long-term growth plans of the company. Evaluates the financial performance of the organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts;
- Drives the company’s financial planning process, and in collaboration with the Board of Directors, creates yearly financial objectives;
- Monitors financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions, and minimizing the impact of variances;
- Presents accurate and comprehensive financial information to the Board for long term financial strategy planning, including monthly and quarterly Board presentation book;
- Mentor and oversee Controller activities; and
- Responsible for overall relationship with financial audit firm, tax preparer and advisor.
Financial Analysis, Budgeting and Forecasting - Performs in depth financial analysis and provides financial perspective and recommendations to assess risk, analyze efficiency and inform decisions;
- Responsible for development of annual budget and pro-forma forecasting over a 5-year period of time; and
- Creates reports as needed for financial planning and analysis.
Accounting, General Ledger, Administration and Operations - Oversees the firm’s accounting and tax functions, ensuring that all accounting activity is appropriately performed and reviewed. Oversees the preparation and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns;
- Oversees the month-end close process, including general ledger accounts, balance sheets, and overhead cost allocation;
- Oversees preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements;
- Ensures internal controls over the company’s accounting and financial procedures are implemented and operating effectively;
- Understand, evaluate, and implement best practices and process improvements within the finance area for a firm our size;
- Oversees annual valuation of Coho stock;
- Ensures compliance with all legal, regulatory and record-keeping requirements as it pertains to finance and accounting;
- Remains current on state, federal and local laws regarding company operations and ensures best practices are adopted as needed;
- May serve as a key point of contact for external auditors. Oversees preparation and support of all external financial audits. Investigates and evaluates auditor findings and recommendations; and
- Oversees and manages corporate insurance programs to ensure adequacy of coverage and mitigation of risk at a reasonable cost.
Financial and Cash Management - Oversees cash management functions. Monitors cash balances and forecasts and assures that cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations;
- Oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, payroll, and bank reconciliation functions;
- Utilize forward- looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets;
- Maintain outstanding banking and insurance relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners; and
- Any other job duties as needed.
