ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT 2/J-1 PROGRAM ASSISTANT , International Scholars Office (ISchO) , to act as Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) and primary contact for J-1 exchange visitor sponsorship requests. Will work with human resources administrators throughout MIT to coordinate visa documents for incoming visitors and researchers; screen and code requests, seek missing information, and issue documents; monitor SEVIS alert list; receive returned e-reminders and handle extension requests; validate, update, and terminate records in ISchO database and SEVIS RTI; and review HR system reports, summon new hires for registration, verify departures, and reconcile discrepancies. Will also greet and register newly arrived scholars/families; assist with event planning, coordinating space reservations, audiovisual services, refreshments, signage, etc.; give occasional presentations to HR administrators about the ISchO intake system, J-1, B-1/WB, and F-1OPT status; answer telephone and email inquiries; contribute to ISchO announcements/web updates/publications; keep manuals up-to-date; order supplies; maintain office space and machines; assist advisors with administrative tasks; and train and work with part-time office assistant on projects. Job Requirements ISchO staff is currently working remotely.
