Assistant Professor - Journalism and Broadcasting

Hiring is contingent upon current budget environment Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process and will also participate in the necessary operations of the institution.; Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate Responsibilities:
 -30% Directorship of Texas Center for Community Journalism and Advisement of Texan News Service and Texan TV: Manage the daily and routine operations of the Texas Center for Community Journalism including, but not limited to, distributing content through the Center website and social media platforms, planning and hosting free workshops for community journalists around the state, planning and preparing special events related to the Center, managing the budget, maintaining relationships and connections with Center donors such as the Texas Press Association, and other duties as assigned. Serve as an advisor to student interns working for TNS/TTV on issues related to the publication of news stories on the website, in the paper, and on the broadcasts.
Education and Experience: - Teachers of record must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards which include a masterâ™s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area or suitable approved justification. A masterâ™s degree in journalism, communication or related field, plus substantial industry experience in journalism would be considered. - Professional experience in journalism is required.
