Mental Health Clinician III (Multiple Vacancies)

Position Summary:

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician III for the Monmouth Junction Outpatient department at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.

Under supervision, provides culturally competent outpatient clinical services that meet the needs of the designated population. Participates in the assessment of clinical needs and provides focused skill acquisition and symptom management using evidence supported individual, group, and family therapy for mental health and co-occurring chemical abuse/dependency.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Conducts behavioral health assessments with clinical skill while showing appropriate respect, concern and understanding for
  the individual.
• Establishes appropriate DSM IV diagnoses and documents diagnosis in the clinical record at the time of assessment with
  updates when clinically appropriate.
• Identifies consumers for whom the program is not the most appropriate level of care and assists with referring to appropriate
  providers within UBHC or outside.
• Collaborates effectively with other staff members, staff from other units, outside agencies, and members of the individual's
  family or other support networks to enhance care.
• Advocates for individuals served to assure that issues of culture or language do not create a barrier to effective care.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Minimum of a Master's Degree in a Mental Health or related discipline and a New Jersey license as required by discipline.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Demonstrated competency in treating children, adolescents, adults and families, including those with co-occurring disorders.
• Demonstrated ability to assess level of care needs and provide outpatient group therapy treatment.
• Sufficient computer literacy to effectively use the electronic medical record (EMR), email and internet/intranet.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC).
• Experience treating children.
• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).

Special Conditions:

• May be required to work at least (1) evening per week.
