Part Time Mental Health Counselor - Northern Essex Community College

Part Time Mental Health Counselor: 15-20 hours per week; MCCC unit professional position

Summary:  Seeking part-time Mental Health Clinician position. The successful candidate will be an experienced generalist clinician with established clinical skills and outreach experience serving a diverse population. 

ANTICIPATED START DATE: February 2021

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide brief short-term counseling, initial assessments, crisis appointments, referral services, and consultation/outreach to the college community. 
• Coordinate outreach programs for the Counseling and Psychological Services office.
• Provide training and education to the Counseling and Health Service staff, as well as the larger College community, including students, staff and faculty, regarding the mental health needs of the diverse student population.
• Complete and maintain documentation in a timely and accurate manner and according to Federal, State and office guidelines

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A Master's degree in Counseling or closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Licensed mental health professional.
• Demonstrated competence in providing clinical services to a diverse client population with complex mental health needs.
• Demonstrated competence in psychotherapy, training, psychoeducational program planning and clinical documentation utilizing an electronic medical record.
• Highly effective interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Counseling experience in a higher education setting.
• Suicide assessment, intervention, and prevention skills.
• Proficiency with short-term psychotherapy models.
• Familiarity with diverse populations including but not limited to LGBTQ, Asian, African and African American, Caribbean, Latinx, Biracial, International, Immigrant and DACA students.
• Knowledge of health insurance and social services in Massachusetts.
• Ability to conduct counseling and outreach services in both English and Spanish.
• Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse, urban population in a Hispanic-Serving Institution.

SALARY:   

• $30.03/hour
• Non-Benefited position
