DESCRIPTIONCounseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is the leading unit within the UC San Diego Health cluster of Student Health and Wellbeing, delivering campus-based mental health services to over 38,000 registered UCSD undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students. CAPS multicultural, multidisciplinary, and student-centered staff strives to deliver community based, culturally proficient counseling services, outreach programming, consultation, research, and training opportunities. Rooted in Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, CAPS services support the academic mission of the University aimed at student success and retention and works toward the maintenance of an inclusive and healthy living and learning environment for individuals to flourish as they pursue their academic and career goals. CAPS is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services and the Post-doctoral Resident Training Program is APPIC affiliated. CAPS is fully committed to self-examination, peer review, and quality improvement through the utilization of data, outcome, and client experience measurements. UCSD CAPS is seeking a skilled mental health professional, experienced in reducing barriers to student mental health care in a multicultural university environment, to provide counseling and clinical services for a diverse student population. Primary responsibilities for this position will be addressing the mental health needs, especially the social/ecological and psychological experiences and dynamics affecting the University Black student populations, to foster their academic success and wellness at UCSD. Position requires proven training, expertise, commitment, and sustained engagement in working with African American students and students of color towards their personal development, well-being, and academic success, through culturally proficient individual, group and community interventions. This licensed professional performs psychological assessments towards diagnosis and the formulation of a treatment plan, the provision of focused psychotherapy and referral of students to appropriate level of care. Also participates in after hours, on-call, and urgent care coverage. The incumbent provides consultation to faculty, staff and administration, engages in mental health promotion and education to a diverse college population, and delivers preventive outreach including psycho-educational programming and evaluation. Incumbent also provides supervision and training of CAPS Post-doctoral Residents and maintains quality assurance and improvement in compliance standards. QUALIFICATIONS
