Our client is a state-owned bank, which provides products and services in corporate and investment banking as well as international banking. They have an established London branch and they have ambitions to grow their Middle Eastern & African focused coverage business from London.

Exciting opportunity for a Director, Head of Middle East and Africa - FIs & Corporates to help a globally focused, state owned, corporate and investment bank build their Middle East and Africa Financial Institutions and Corporate Coverage business in London.

Our client wishes to hire a person responsible for the coverage of a portfolio of the Corporate & Financial Institutions including corporates, commercial banks, state-owned banks, multilaterals/ECA and other non-bank financial institutions such as PE funds, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies and specialist finance companies in Middle East & Africa("ME&A") with the aim of 1) designing and implementing the strategy for these names, 2) originating a wide range of transactions for products offered by the Bank and other relevant group entities and 3) strengthening the relationship with Corporates & FI clients.

The role includes performing ME&A business feasibility analysis, establishing the Bank's ME&A business strategy and execution plan and reporting the results to the management during the first 6 months of employment.

• The role of Head, ME&A exists to lead in marketing activities, origination of new business, execution of transactions and providing strategic and business development support to senior management in delivering the team, unit and department's budget and objectives.
• The role may require supervision and/or training of junior staff and involvement multiple teams of internal and external staff in changing and high-pressure situations to deliver results, when relevant.
• Leading deal teams in the marketing for, origination of and execution of transactions.
• Supervise the preparation of credit applications and help to train and supervise more junior staff in that role.
• As appropriate, input and guidance on financial modelling and analysis.
• Understanding the Bank's internal procedures and processes, and relevant regulations and compliance matters and applying them correctly and in compliance with all rules and regulations and monitoring and supporting junior staff in doing so.
• Dealing with customers for origination of regulated products including telephone and face to face meetings.
• Preparing externally facing marketing materials in line with the guidelines and seeking compliance approval.

Profile

The person:

• Previous experience of working in corporate finance in Corps & FI sector in a relevant institution (bank, advisor, industry etc).
• Significant knowledge and experience of corporate finance theory, practice, risk analysis, credit, execution and documentation applicable to Corps & FI sector (including non-bank financial institutions).
• Strong numerical and financial skills essential and financial modelling experience.
• Good knowledge of financial institutions customers and clients for marketing purposes and the ability to work with and understand customer needs - the role would be expected to have its own network of customers and other industry players.
• A significant element of leadership experience for transactions and of managing junior staff.
• Education & Qualifications: Undergraduate level degree as a minimum
