This position will provide coordination to the SAN Coordinating Center which addresses a critical need for Fred Hutch and partnering institutions to ensure investigators have access to a range of specimens, associated clinical data, large datasets and other scarce research resources to support the development of competitive grant applications and completion of their current research endeavors. The objective is to spur further innovation that places the Fred Hutch at the forefront of this novel locally international network, with potential for expansion across the US and to other countries, to increase collaborative funding opportunities and support scientific advancement. Network Mission To provide reliable and cost-effective access to high-quality human tissue, blood, other body fluid samples, associated clinical and specimen annotation data, and large-scale data sets to drive forward health sciences research. The network coordinating center provides quality customer service and a streamlined, efficient method for identifying and requesting specimens and/or data from network partners. - Enable contributing biobanks/biospecimen procurement and data resources from partner organizations to increase awareness and utilization of their available resources
- Sharing best practices and keeping up with national and international trends
- Facilitating local/regional collaborations (scientific/private industry)

- This role will report directly to the Network Advisor within the division of Research Administration.
Responsibilities Our coordinating center will promote cross-talk between our network partners and supports researchers before, during, and after specimen acquisition and data generation/procurement. These supportive services are catered toward clarifying necessary paperwork, logistics, and processes while also pointing toward expert advice, best practices, process workflows, and other valuable resources. Providing these services reduces the time investment needed by an individual researcher and gives them more time to focus on making their next big discovery. Core Job Functions - Assist the Directors to create agendas, plan for Governance Committee meetings and other SAN events
- Track, document and respond to all data and specimen requests, feedback from collaborators and those exploring the SAN platform and initiative
- Develop and maintain guidelines (recommendations/regulations) to advise researchers on data use or specimen use, depending on research context and in response to investigator needs
- Includes connecting researchers with subject matter experts as needed in response to technical needs
- Follow up on use of specimens and data exchanged within the network (annual reporting on impact/use)
- Work with customers to ensure reporting of scientific impact (including acknowledgement on and information about resulting publications, grants, trials, etc.)
- Provide access to SOPs/best practices for specimen collection and management to partner organizations
- Assist in development of and carry out education and outreach activities about services and shared knowledge available through the coordinating center
- Other tasks and activities as needed and assigned
Value-Add/Wrap-Around Services - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices and guidelines to advise faculty with related questions

- Draft documents (protocols, consents etc.)
- Refresh, as needed, reference docs to ensure compliance (HIPAA, GINA, CFR, ISBER etc.) with all current guidelines/best practices (in conjunction with key stakeholders and governance committee members)
- Provide a point of contact for faculty who have questions relating to study set-up, data collection/tracking, data-sharing, specimen use, etc. at any point in the research lifecycle
- This requires using the knowledge outlined above, learnings derived over time through serving in this role, and sharing from experience of other researchers
- With this knowledge, begin to develop recommendations/best practices and mechanisms for sharing, as relevant
- Assist in larger specimen acquisition/data management community across the nation to share best practices, engage learning and develop strategic partnerships

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications - BA/BS in related field required. Minimum of 5 years post-bachelor's or 3 years post-master's of directly related experience to the healthcare or research field

Preferred Qualifications - Masters level or higher
- Laboratory or research experience working with biospecimens/biospecimen data
- Experience generating and/or managing genomic data
- Ability to take initiative and use sound and independent judgment in carrying out responsibilities and managing shifting priorities
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Ability to think critically, work independently, and act as a team member
