Job Description: THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION. EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTINUED FUNDING FROM THE GRANT PROVIDER. THERE MAY BE UP TO TWO (2) POSITIONS AVAILABLE. Position is based in central and east central Ohio. The SBDC Business Advisor fosters a strong climate for small business growth by providing in-depth, confidential, no-cost business counseling, no to low-cost training, and resource and referral services to Ohio's small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. Client counseling including interviewing and assessing client needs. Provide in-depth counseling with clients to determine their needs and capabilities. Analysis of specific business and industry data in finance, marketing, management, and operations. Provide interpretation & analysis of historical financials and development of budgets/projections to determine feasibility. Problem solving to identify areas of improvement and opportunity. Provide guidance in capital access for pre-venture, startup, and existing businesses. Work with private & public entities providing voluntary /no-cost consulting services and in-depth individual business analysis and referral of clients to appropriate resources as required. Comply with federal and state requirements of client session documentation. Evaluate programs effectiveness and measure impact of services provided to meet or exceed established goals set by the SBDC Lead Center. Work closely with Director and/or other agencies to facilitate the operation of the program. Promote the SBDC program and advocate for small business through presentations and training events. Develop relationships with key stakeholders and partners including, but not limited to, SBA, Ohio Development Services Agency, banks, Chambers of Commerce, economic development organizations, legislators, and education institutions. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in any field and at least three (3) years of work experience in any field. A valid driver's license and the ability to travel within the service region is required. Reliable internet service at residence in case of remote work needs. Excellent oral/written communications and organizational skills; ability to multi-task. Candidate will be required to complete the Certified Business Advisor program within six (6) months of being hired. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working with small businesses or client counseling is preferred. Profit Mastery Certification is preferred.
