The Academic Skills Center Coordinator Overview: The ASC Coordinator uses a variety of research-based methods to share and practice with students, focusing on executive functioning skills, foundational and high-level academic skills, analytical thinking, writing and critical inquiry; the ASA Coordinator also assists students with diagnosed learning differences. The ASC Coordinator provides the staff of each division with professional development and facilitates a coaching model with faculty to support a “push-in” framework that allows for collaborative partnerships in support of all students’ learning experiences. The ASC Coordinator creates and maintains a K-12 process for monitoring and evaluating services provided to students in the Academic Skills Center and is expected to share data with the Head of School, Division Heads and teachers, where appropriate. The Coordinator works with small groups of middle and upper school students, provides coaching for K-12 teachers, Department Chairs (MS/US), and Grade Level Leads (LS) and partners with Division Heads to carry out the Center’s goals. The ASC Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating services for outside providers in the After-School Skills Center Program. Additionally, the ASC Coordinator facilitates individual and small group faculty workshops in and out of the classroom to model, partner, and support faculty to differentiate instruction for all students, integrate metacognitive strategies for learning, and design and practice student-centered learning approaches.
