![]() University of Idaho Associate Dean Location: Boise Division/College: College of Law Employee Category: Faculty Pay Range: Faculty Salary plus stipend Full/Part Time: Full Time Position Summary: The Associate Dean for Student Affairs & Inclusion at the Boise location is a clinical faculty member who works on behalf of the Dean, usually with delegated responsibility, to assist in overseeing certain aspects of College administration in partnership with the Moscow locations Associate Dean of Student Affairs & Admissions (Moscow ADS). The Associate Dean in Boise (Boise ADS) is primarily responsible for overseeing the Academic Success department in both locations, helping provide academic support and develop advising programs and policies at the College of Law. The Boise ADS also supports the Moscow ADS as needed in supervising the Career Development and Admissions departments as well as the SBA and other student groups. The Boise ADS is responsible for supporting current and building new diversity and inclusion initiatives, creating pipeline programs to increase access to the legal academy and retain students, and supporting efforts to nurture an inclusive environment. The Boise ADS should participate in College and University committees. The Boise ADS supervises JD staff, administrative assistants, and (at times) student employees. Additional duties include managing the building operations at the Boise location, working with the Universitys Center for Disability and Resources and, ss needed, assist with applying for and administering grants, preparing for the American Bar Association (ABA) accreditation reviews, and submitting curriculum and other matters to the University and completing necessary paperwork and processes. The Dean, according to the needs of the College, may assign additional duties, which might include teaching a course according to the needs of the College if timer permits considering the increased service obligations of the administrative role. The Boise ADS is expected to participate in outreach activities and attend community and legal association events as the Deans designee. The Boise ADS must also meet the requirements for clinical professors, as set forth in the Colleges bylaws. Minimum Qualifications: J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school. Successful completion of a bar exam in any state. Teaching experience in legal education. Experience supervising others in employment or on projects. Preferred Qualifications: Academic advising experience in legal education. A minimum of six years of experience as a practicing attorney or in higher education. Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in any work or educational setting. Scholarship or interest in contributing to scholarship in areas relevant to the position, such as on issues related to diversity and inclusion, professionalism, academic success, or disability law and accessibility issues. Experience managing building operations or other knowledge of accessibility and disability accommodations matters. Experience working with students or others in crisis with a calm and respectful demeanor, and subsequently make well-reasoned determinations of next steps.
