Nomura's Investment Banking division provides array of advisory and capital-raising solutions to corporations, financial institutions, governments and public-sector organizations around the world. Our global teams act as geographic, product and industry specialists, with a focus on domestic, regional and cross-border collaboration in M&A, DCM, acquisition finance and solutions businesses. Our global sector teams include Energy Infrastructure and Industrials, Consumer & Retail, FIG, Healthcare, Business Services, Media and Technology (BMT), and Financial Sponsors.

Nomura is looking to hire an analyst or associate into its Sustainable Finance Group based in London. This is a private side team, sitting within Nomura's Investment Banking Division and part of its Debt Syndicate Business. The role involves global coverage in terms of origination, structuring and execution of ESG products, with a particular emphasis on green, social, sustainability and KPI-linked bonds.

This role represents an opportunity to join a growing and well-established sustainable finance team. Nomura has been committed to this innovative part of the global capital markets since the early days of this market - lead arranging ESG themed bonds since 2010. We have recently been awarded by the Banker the "Investment Bank of the Year for Sustainable Corporate Finance" for 2020 and runner-up at the 2019 Global Capital Green/SRI Awards for "Most Impressive Investment Bank for Asia Pacific Green/SRI Capital Market"

Key responsibilities and deliverables:

• Develop expert knowledge of ESG debt products, particularly relating to green and social bonds, to assist in the origination, structuring and execution of such products
• Support the Sustainable Finance Group with data collection and market analysis, investor outreach and research, and any other value-add activities
• Update and produce marketing materials that effectively communicate Nomura's expertise, respond to RfPs, take active part in pitching for new business
• Take part in originating and structuring of ESG products and advise issuers during execution
• Working on implementing Nomura's sustainability strategy and ESG targets globally: working together with local product teams and coverage bankers: co-origination, structuring, syndication of green and sustainable financing products (bonds, loans, securitization, etc.)
• Support the team in acting as advisors to investors and companies, to build on Nomura's reputation as a Sustainable Finance leader.
• Proactively and continuously monitor the market to stay abreast of issuance trends and developments to enhance the Sustainable Finance team's collective knowledge of the ESG bond space

Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

• Minimum undergraduate degree
• Ideally 2-3 years of experience in ESG and/or capital markets roles
• Fluent written and spoken English, additional language capabilities desirable
• Skilled at communicating clearly and succinctly, both verbally and written, with the ability to communicate complex information both internally and externally
• Strong interpersonal skills to manage client relationships and interaction with other teams within Nomura.
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure to meet deadlines, and the ability to respond creatively and quickly in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while understanding when to involve other team members as needed and to work effectively in a team environment
• High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
• Experience using Bloomberg and other data sources
