Position Description:

We are seeking a hard-working software engineer to join the PIMCO Portfolio Technology team. Building on top of a modern, scalable, cloud-based infrastructure, the Portfolio Technology team develops and maintains the applications, platforms and tools that are central to PIMCO's trading and portfolio management processes. In this role, your work will fall into 1 or more of the following categories:
  • Trade risk sizing and capital allocation decision support
  • Systematic order management and workflow
  • Fine-grained trade risk and performance tracking
  • Portfolio PnL and historical performance attribution
  • Supporting Portfolio Management, Product Management, and Client-Facing teams globally

Responsibilities may include:
  • Solving engineering challenges associated with large data processing volumes and/or complex calculation dependencies
  • Forward development of new system components and enhancements to existing codebase(s)
  • Working collaboratively with other Portfolio Technology team members
  • Learning various aspects of PIMCO business and operational processes
  • Direct interaction with business users (Trade Floor, PMs, Risk Managers, etc.) in order to define, roll-out, and support new platform features


Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the investment domain building large-scale application solutions by using modern full stack technologies in a front office environment or supporting a portfolio management technology capacity
  • Experience in writing backend services using Java, or C# (while we are using Java, we will consider strong candidates in other languages as long as they show ability to learn Java)
  • Interest in learning about / working with modern UI technologies
  • Understanding of infrastructure fundamentals such as Unix, SSH, Kerberos, and ADFS
  • Hands-on experience working with cloud-specific infrastructure (e.g. Cloud Foundry, AWS, Kubernetes, etc...)
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to highly dynamic environments
  • Willingness to support systems in a production environment on a rotating on-call basis
