Deliver immigration services for foreign national faculty, researchers, scholars, staff, and their dependents. Serve as subject matter and regulatory expert on the following visa types: H-1B, O-1, E-3, TN petitions and particularly permanent residence applications. Assemble and file said petitions and applications. Advise and review more complex cases and immigration matters with other advisors, supervisors and/or outside counsel. Ensure compliance with all United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and Department of Labor (DOL) regulations, while also advocating for members of the University international community. Serve as a backup Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) to the University's Exchange Visitor Program for international faculty, researchers, and visiting scholars. Manage relevant databases as well as the internal and external reporting mechanism. In addition, advise on employment, travel and community resources. Train academic department administrators. Administer and coordinate Office of Global Services (OGS) cross-cultural programs. Support the communication efforts of the International Faculty and Research Scholar Services advising team. Conduct education programs for university staff.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in education, political science, liberal arts, management, communications, or a related field.
Preferred Education: Master’s degree in international education, higher education, political science, liberal arts, management, communications, or a related field.
Required Experience: Minimum 3 years relevant experience with federal regulations processing J-1, H-1B, E-3, O-1, and TN non-immigrant petitions and permanent residency applications. Excellent presentation, oral, and written communication skills..
Preferred Experience: 1-2 years experience within a business immigration law firm. Experience in supervision, database management, and reporting metrics.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent attention to detail required with high focus on accuracy. Ability to function in a fast-paced, deadline driven atmosphere. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate with people from different cultural backgrounds. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Fluency in at least one foreign language; experience living abroad. Completion of NAFSA H-1B and Permanent Residency Professional Development Programs.
