As a member of Lucas’ Product Development Group, you will lead a smaller but growing machine learning team and work in collaboration with some of the brightest, most talented software engineers in Pittsburgh. You’ll enjoy knowing that your team is making a recognizable impact to the growth of a profitable, established but entrepreneurial, software solutions company. Primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction systems integrated with our suite of products which will include predictive analytics. You’ll help define a roadmap of use cases and applications of this data that can be productized for the market as part of the entire Lucas platform and experience.

The Lead Data Scientist will be responsible for:

• Building, leading, and mentoring a small but growing team of data scientists who use analytic methods and tools to explore and create high quality solutions that can be incorporated into Lucas products or spawn new products.
• Hands-on development of algorithms, writing scripts, building predictive analytics, using automation, applying machine learning, and using the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn sets of disparate data points into objective answers to help Lucas’ customers make informed decisions.
• Building scalable and reusable data science components, maintaining and evolving models, and tracking overall performance.
• Actively engaging with domain experts and customers to understand the challenges that exist within the Supply Chain/Warehousing and Distribution space.
• Working with product development team members to bring high integrity, analytic solutions that align with organizational and revenue goals to market.
• Being the resident advisor to cross-functional teams with regard to analysis, insights and statistical methodologies. Clearly articulating the same to a wider audience as well (e.g., presenting at trade shows, writing white papers and blogs, etc.).
