Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students, the Director of Student Leadership and Engagement will be a critical team member within a dynamic office that promotes co-curricular student engagement leadership development and campus-wide programs and traditions. This student-centered position is responsible for supporting the mission of the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement (OSLE), the Division of Student Affairs (DSA), and Hofstra University. This is an onsite position; work for this role is performed on campus. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Directly supervises one full-time assistant director responsible for Fraternity and Sorority Life and one graduate assistant for evening and weekend programming. • Indirectly supervises a second graduate assistant and student workers. • Provide vision, coordination, and oversight for all student leadership initiatives, including the Blue & Gold Leadership Program, leadership conferences and summits, trainings and retreats, and recognition events. • Coordinate advising, registration, promotion, and support of over 200 diverse student organizations. • Develop guidelines and training for student groups and advisors; organize and manage all applicable leadership software for student organizations and advisors. • Serve as program advisor to a diverse group of student organizations on campus and assist with management and advising of the Student Government Association. • Oversee the development of a vibrant and responsible fraternity and sorority life community. • Collaborate with OSLE and student leaders in the planning and implementation of campus wide programs and traditions, including Welcome Week, Fall Festival, MusicFest, 9/11Memorial, etc. • Collaborate in the development of the annual operating budget and ensure that University resources are utilized efficiently, ethically, and effectively. Monitor and maintain budgetary controls and accountability. • Serve as an active member of the Administrative Conduct Board for the Office of Community Standards including all required training. • Serve on University and DSA committees as assigned; attend all applicable training sessions. • Assist in all aspects of office operations, including contributions to strategic planning and assessment efforts. • Help develop new initiatives and student traditions based on current research and best and next practices in the field. • Fulfill other related duties as assigned. • Extended hours will be required as needed, including evening, early morning and weekend responsibilities.
