Drake University is accepting applications for an International Student Advisor within the International Programs area. This individual will serve as the primary advisor to assist students with their cultural adaptation and integration into campus and Des Moines. Serving as the Designated School Official (DSO), the International Student Advisor will interpret and advise international students with compliance of federal immigration regulations, including maintaining status and work authorization. Additionally, the International Student Advisor will coordinate international student programming with campus departments and local organizations. Successful candidates should, at a minimum, have a bachelor's degree, experience working with university students, preferably international students, and must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident (in order to work in SEVIS). Previous experience coordinating and delivering international student programming, experience working in SEVIS, and experience as a DSO or ARO are preferred. Effective communication (verbal and written) is required, with the ability to converse in a language in addition to English is preferred.
Experience working with university students, preferably international students
Must be U.S. Citizen or permanent resident (in order to work in SEVIS)
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
Effective communication skills, both written and oral
Experience coordinating and delivering international student programming
Experience working in the SEVIS system
Previous experience as a DSO or ARO

Experience studying or living in a country outside of the U.S.
