Job Title: Head of Upper School

Position Summary:

The Head of Upper School attends to and oversees the planning and supervision of daily life of the upper school students and faculty (grades 9-12). In addition, the Head of Upper School will teach/coach a class/sport and serve as a student advisor. The Head of Upper School must advance the school’s mission, assist in implementing Trinity Prep’s Episcopal identity, and uphold the ideal that fine arts and athletics enhance the learning experience. S/he will present various reports to the Head of School/Associate Head of School on student behavior, parent and faculty engagement, and division performance on a monthly basis. Also on a monthly basis, s/he will evaluate the US budgets with the Chief Financial Officer; support the Advancement Office in alumni relations, present reports to the Board of Trustees as required by the Head of School, and ensure that the technological and information needs of the division are being met with the Chief Information Officer. The Head of Upper School reports to the Head of School. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities of the Head of Upper School are to: 

•  communicate the goals and philosophy of the upper school;
•  consult with parents when necessary with regard to or on behalf of students and/or teachers;
•  oversee upper school extracurricular activities and the scheduling of upper school events

  with advisers;

• counsel students on academic and extracurricular choices and social activities;
• lead and oversee upper school assemblies, events, and programs;
• monitor student behavior and ensure the enforcement of the behavior system;
• promote and represent Trinity Prep locally, nationally, and internationally as an educational leader;
• support the professional growth of faculty and staff;
• meet as necessary with other school constituents. 

Direct divisional oversight includes:

• Dean’s office  
• advisers and advisory system
• administrative support personnel  
• student publications and activities
• guidance counselor
• budget
• communications

Committee responsibilities include:

• Administrative Team 
• Admission Committee
• Curriculum Committee
• Academic Council
• Care Team
• Liaison with Trinity Parents Organization’s grade-level representatives

Collaborative process/program oversight

• orientation of new faculty and students
• support the Chaplain in the administration of upper school community service efforts
• curricular execution with the Director of Learning and Instruction
• enrollment retention with the Director of Admissions and Tuition Assistance
• All-school operational oversight with the Head of Middle School, Chief Information Officer, Director of Learning and Instruction, and Associate Head of School 
• assist in the hiring, assignment of responsibilities, and evaluation of professionals for retention and advancement

Perform duties as assigned by the Head of School

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree is required; master’s degree or higher in an academic discipline is preferred, and experience at the senior administrative level at a secondary school is desirable.
