The Senior Analyst, reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor of University Development and with work direction from the Director of Donor Strategy, is responsible for providing complex project coordination, needs assessment, analysis, and implementation of donor strategy and engagement activities in support of University Development's core development strategies, programs, and initiatives.
The Senior Analyst works closely with colleagues across University Development and Advancement on high-level projects to ensure effective and efficient strategic planning, execution, and evaluation on a wide variety of University Development priorities, programs, and projects, alerting management and proposing solutions for potential risks and roadblocks. This includes managing a wide range of visible issues involving programmatic and project management work associated with complex problems of a confidential and extremely sensitive nature. The Senior Analyst works within a sophisticated, highly-collaborative fundraising office that fosters relations with senior management, faculty, community leaders, alumni, donors, prospective employees, and university and government officials. The position requires knowledge and organizational savvy in effectively navigating across UC San Diego internal communities, as well as familiarity with external audiences such as volunteer leadership and major donors. The position provides complex analysis to understand University Development's business needs for current/future fundraising initiatives and recommends and contributes to implementation of development activities and strategic improvements.
Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of development and analytical practices, policies and procedures; researches, analyzes and develops solutions to a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods for obtaining solutions. Primarily deals with development activities, programs, and strategies which are complex in nature and diverse in scope. As needed, develops new programs and strategies for possible implementation.

Minimum of five years of experience in an operational or administrative role working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses. Demonstrated ability to assess procedures and define requirements to streamline business process and result in productivity improvement.
Knowledge of the techniques of donor/prospect research with the ability to extract and distill pertinent/critical information from multiple sources.
Analytical / problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze information, situations, problems, policies and procedures; ask critical questions to gather all required information; identify potential solutions; apply solutions and formulate logical and objective conclusions from data and observations; communicate conclusions to a variety of personnel at various levels.
Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
Experience coordinating complex scheduling and domestic and foreign travel arrangements.
