THE ROLE

The EMEA Finance team aims to be a strategic partner and advisor in achieving Silicon Valley Bank?s overall mission to increase our clients? probability of success, supporting all of the Management information (?MI?), business analysis, financial reporting, Financial Control, Treasury and Tax activity for the EMEA division of SVB.   This will be done by delivering greater insights to support decision making and set strategy to protect our business and deliver smart growth.

Silicon Valley Bank is experiencing ongoing growth including expanding into Europe and reorganizing the UK business into a subsidiary. Given this background, the EMEA treasury team is expanding and we are looking to hire a talented and experienced Asset/Liability Manager.

The role will report to, and work alongside, the EMEA Treasurer and will run a team responsible for funding, capital and liquidity management. stress testing, FX and interest rate risk management.  With the creation of UK subsidiary due in 2021, the individual will be heavily involved in developing and maintaining key regulatory deliverables such as ILAAP, ICAAP and Recovery Plan. They will also help guide and ensure key management controls are implemented for the UK and other EMEA entities as required.

The successful candidate will:

• Manage various aspects of ALM including balance sheet management, forecasting, interest rate and FX exposures, across the UK and other EMEA entities.
• Use analytical skills to recommend strategies to optimize the balance sheet from a capital, liquidity, interest rate and FX perspective.
• Play a key role in developing and maintaining the ILAAP and ICAAP and ensuring they are embedded in the organization.
• Work with US colleagues developing and analyzing capital and liquidity stress tests on at least a quarterly basis.
• Ensure that the UK entity remains complaint with the internal capital and liquidity risk appetite and external regulatory liquidity requirements.
• Ensure cost effective funding for UK and EMEA entities by monitoring and recommending various sources including intercompany, cross-currency, deposit and money market funding.
• Prepare materials for and attend EMEA Asset/Liability Committee.
• Keep abreast of, and evaluate the impact of, regulatory pronouncements as applicable to the UK Branch/SVB as a whole.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with US and other global stakeholders and colleagues.  

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Education: Relevant experience and/or business, Economics or Accounting qualification.
• Work Experience:  Solid experience working in bank ALM or a generalized bank treasury role including ALM-activities. Specific experience with ILAAP and ICAAP processes.
• Communications:  The individual must have excellent communication and presentation abilities, including strong written and verbal skills and the ability to explain issues and decision as well as strategy both internally and externally.  The individual must be an excellent listener, who works to understand the needs of others.
• Technical skills:  He/she must have good Excel skills, and ideally experience with Reuters/Bloomberg, and treasury system. Knowledge of accounting systems and basic book-keeping useful.
