Sutter Health’s Palo Alto Medical Foundation is hiring for an experienced Oncology Genetic Counselor. This counselor will be joining a close-knitted team of 7 other counselors to provide service across the Bay Area. This role is based out of our Sunnyvale campus; however, genetics providers are currently providing services virtually due to COVID with minimal in-person services (needs are subject to change in the future). This Genetic Counselor will be reporting to the Clinical Genetic Programs Manager. The Oncology Genetic Counselor will see on average 12-16 patients per week and will work with patients who may have increased risks of various types of cancers. To provide the best management, our team of Genetic Counselors work in collaboration with our Physicians in Oncology, Internal Medicine, and Family Medicine, OB/GYN but not limited to these departments. Opportunities to explore interests in other genetics specialties such as cardiology are available. Our schedule requirements are Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm, 4 of those days being dedicated to patient services and the 5th day for administrative tasks.
Education: Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling is required. Licensures and Certifications: Board certification or eligibility in genetic counseling by either the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) or the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) preferred. Skills and Knowledge:
