Job Description: Ohio University was chartered by the state of Ohio in 1804 and is the oldest university in what was once the Northwest Territory. Located in Athens, among the scenic Appalachian foothills of southeastern Ohio, its classic residential campus is one of the most attractive in the nation. The Office of the University Registrar at Ohio University reports to the Senior Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management. The University Registrar oversees the Office of the University Registrar and the Veterans Center. Combined there are 26 full time employees, plus student employees. Ohio University is located in Athens, Ohio and has five regional campuses, two extension campuses, and online students. The Coordinator for Veterans Services/Academic Advisor is a direct report to the Director of Veterans and Military Student Services. Job Description: Primary responsibilities: 2. Serve as a School Certifying Official to report to the VA enrollments, fees, and changes to students' records. Interpret VA educational benefit policies to ensure accurate and timely reporting. 3. Plan and implement programs and services for military affiliated students and families. Provide programs and services to help faculty and staff understand the military student and any special needs of this population. Serve as alternate chair of the campus-wide veterans committee and collaborate with military points of contact across campus and throughout the region. Serve as a secondary point of contact for military-affiliated students, faculty, and staff on all Ohio University campuses. 4. Analyze data, track our veteran and military affiliated students, and evaluate and assess the effectiveness of programs and services provided. Contribute to support critical needs of the Veterans Center. Assist as needed to ensure Enrollment Management division is meeting its goals. Coordinator may contribute to business and operational decisions that affect the department. Decisions made address non-routine questions and situations, often requiring investigation and/or research of precedents. Uses patterns, trends, and precedents to analyze situations and determine appropriate course of action or approach to solving problems. Results are defined and existing practices are used as guidelines to determine specific work methods and carries out work activities independently; Supervisor/manager is available to resolve problems. Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling or related field. At least 3 years of related work experience; At least 1 year of management experience; Working knowledge of how to transform federal policies and concepts (Veteran and Military) into practice and procedures at a state institution of higher learning; Must be computer proficient including experience using an office suite (such as Microsoft Office) and web-based applications; Experience with project collaboration within work team and with external agencies, and the ability to execute.
