UPPER SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY TEACHER

The Emery/Weiner School seeks a dynamic, innovative, and collegial Technology Teacher to join our collaborative faculty as part of the Computer Science and Technology Department. Responsibilities include teaching five sections of Technology courses in the Upper School and serving as an advisor. Additionally, the candidate will participate in student life, coaching, and chaperoning duties according to the experience of the candidate and needs of the school. A strong candidate will have a minimum of three to five years of teaching experience and a desire to teach in a progressive, student-centered independent school that values innovative pedagogy and experiential education. An outstanding candidate should be able to demonstrate a track record of innovation, flexibility, collegiality, and student success.

For this position, the ideal candidate is expected to:

• Teach courses in the Computer Science and Technology Department that may include an introductory course in computational thinking and coding, Computer Programming, and Robotics, at the introductory and advanced levels
• Mentor select students as they investigate independent projects developed in coordination with departmental personnel
• Provide opportunities for students to explore technology-centered creative interests through utilization of the Levine Innovation Lab, which is equipped with 3D printers, a laser cutter, CNC machine, computers, microcontrollers, and various wood and metalworking tools
• Promote the integration of technology skills and use of technology tools in a safe, responsible manner
• Work collaboratively with students and peers to further develop technology courses and experiences to enhance offerings in the school
